How we work
We believe that people living and working in disadvantaged areas and those directly involved in challenging issues are usually best placed to identify the solutions to the problems they face. We also recognise that people often lack the skills, resources and networks to implement their ideas.
Participate seeks out people and organisations with the ideas and potential to create positive change in their communities. Whether an idea is still in development or already off the ground, we can offer support to help nurture and grow it into a sustainable project.
We deliver direct support from our specialist team and work closely with our private sector partners to secure specialist skills and additional manpower. Types of support we offer are bespoke but will generally involve:
- creating the right structure to deliver your project
- partnership development
- finance and fundraising
- business planning
- start-up funding
Where we don’t have specialist skills within the team we look for volunteers from the private sector. Our network of business supporters has provided everything from practical help to build a community allotment to architectural support to design a new community building.
